Many years ago I was very honoured to have met and worked with Mary Edwards who ran Ewell Spiritualist Chapel in Surrey, UK.
In the latter part of her life when she became very ill I went to see her and asked her to share some of her spiritual stories to add to my book. Of course, she agreed and we spent a beautiful afternoon laughing as she regaled all her tales, which I recorded.
While I was there, she asked me if I would read at her funeral. I very happily said yes.
I didn’t realise that would be the last time I would see her.
A few weeks later I was standing in my garden and was suddenly aware of her Spirit standing next to me. Then the next minute, my phone rang and it was her daughter Julie, telling me of her mum’s passing.
Julie told me that I was to “do her funeral.”
“No no,” I said. “Mum just asked me to read something!”
“No,” she said. “Mum’s instructions (written down by Mary) were that you were to do the whole funeral”.
Yikes!!
What I didn’t realise on the day I spent with her, that the recording I had made would be the information I needed to write the eulogy. Spirit are clever as they must have known what was to come.
So plans were made and the day arrived. It was the hottest day and everyone turned up in their brightest clothes (again Mary’s request).
The last song she had chosen was “We’ll Meet Again” by Vera Lynne. As it started to play I said to the packed congregation, “it would be really lovely if we could all sing along.” Which we did.
During the song, one of her sons came out of the crowd and was pointing.
And there, bouncing on the walls and the song sheets was a GOLDEN BALL OF LIGHT.
It was truly amazing and we all saw it. There was no obvious explanation either.
After the service, her son told me that before Mum had passed, she had made a pact with him that she would let him know she was around.
And yes you got it, it was a GOLDEN BALL OF LIGHT.
He said, “I didn’t think she would be able to do it so soon and so publicly.” He was truly stunned as were we all.
Isn’t it fantastic that before we leave this world we can make these arrangements to let our loved ones know we are still there with them?
This would be such a comfort, as I know it was for Mary’s whole family. Also the fact that Spirit had known that I would end up taking the funeral so they made sure I was prepared.
Don’t you just love it?
